Sonus Corp. Acquires 8 Audiology Clinics Aggregating
$3.4 Million in Revenue

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1998--Sonus Corp. (AMEX:SSN - news), a leading operator of audiology clinics in the United States and Canada, today announced that it has acquired, in four separate transactions, 8 audiology-based hearing clinics with aggregate historical annual revenues of approximately $3.4 million. These businesses were acquired for an undisclosed combination of cash, seller financing and stock.

In March 1998, Sonus acquired: Hearing & Speech Associates, Inc. and Tri-County Hearing Aid Center, Inc., which operate 4 clinics in southern California, primarily Orange County.

In April 1998, Sonus acquired: Burton Associates Hearing Aid Specialists, Inc., which operates 2 clinics in southern California; and Hamel Hearing Aids, located in Portland, Oregon.

In May 1998, Sonus acquired: H.E. & A.R., Inc., located in Los Angeles, California.
