I have not had a cable for more than a decade. I even gave up over the air TV. All my media is streaming media and all my news is based on search subscriptions and alerts. The good, I get what I want, when I want it. The bad, sometimes I am disconnected from the public mood pop news because I am not exposed to that ratcheting up that you talked about and I don't get to see the ads or pop news.
