I am not putting anyone down. Scientists have studied this subject and there seems to be clusters of innovation interspersed with decades of slow steady progress. Perhaps we are in one of the slow steady periods. There are others who say that the clusters of innovation are actually two different types: science and engineering innovations, and management and business innovations. I can certainly see a lot of business process process and management innovations. It's not as sexy as a moonshot, but it is still important progress. So maybe I am ranting for no reason. But I don't think so. Because whether it is engineering or business, radical progress requires turmoil and aspirational work. And I don't see much of it in the arts to inspire the younger generations.
