Ukraine has been in a state of ethical squalor and financial corruption ever since the breakup of the USSR and in a state of low level civil war for about twenty years. Basically everyone, except the gangsters running the place, (who are getting paid off by the US to shit on Russia), is in poverty despite the country's vast resources.
