So let's look at the big picture. No country has benefitted from the post Soviet world order more than China. China has prospered and will continue to prosper in a world that is reasonably predictable.

China likely has no interest in a strong Russia sharing a long border. A weak Russia can continue to provide fossil fuels at bargain prices while China transitions to greener fuel sources. The 21st Century will be great for China unless Putin decides to go out in a blaze of deranged glory.
