Those investors with a long term view realize that the potential for profit is much greater if NN stays independent. If they are taken over by a larger company, you might make a quick 1-time gain, but then you have to start over, evaluating the new combined companies as if it was a new investment. If it doesn't look as good as something else, you then have to sell (with all the attendant tax consequences) so you can reinvest your money into something with otter potential.

I agree 100%. I'm building a position at these levels and plan to hold for several years. An opportunity like this doesn't come along very often. When it does, I figure some eternal toll-keeper turned his back and let me sneak on by.
