Well-I will further impress you by telling you that I have sung it several times with different orchestras-but definitely the best was the Dallas Symphony. BUT, to offset any sense of awe that you now feel in my presence, I will also share with you a humiliating moment...
Eduardo Mata was the conductor of the symphony at the time. (He died a few years back in a plane crash-very sad)We were rehearsing at the Music Hall (where I was just last night for Turandot) and the sopranos had come in early on an entrance... and he yelled at us pretty viciously. Then he started again--and guess what -ONE STUPID SOPRANO ENTERED EARLY AGAIN AND HE GLARED AT HER AND SHE LOOKED AROUND REAL FAST AT EVERYONE ELSE LIKE "WHO DID THAT!" AND DO YOU KNOW WHO THAT SOPRANO WAS????? I wanted to die.
