I had an office at a broker back in 1980 when Gold ran to $850.The top broker at the time was a commodity broker and I remember stacks of orders to buy Gold from about $600 on up.

The Silver run-up in the '80s was the Hunt brothers from Dallas, I believe they were indicted for some wrongdoing in that.

Had a friend who bought a bunch of silver. Had a 3 LB brick he used to use as a doorstop after the price dropped. Don't know if he still has it <g>
