I envisioned he would invade and altered my stock portfolio in response to that belief. I envision it would happen near the end of the Olympics, right on schedule they attacked. .

I think Putin wants all of Ukraine. He may be forced to settle for far less, but he wants the government toppled and replaced with his own cronies.

When you run a fear based Kleptocracy, new opportunities are always a temptation. Owning the ports in Crimea with such little bloodshed and world condemnation, demonstrated to Putin it was worth the risk. No doubt he rakes in millions a year from the conquest.

Russia and its economy are similar to a world gas station. When you own and operate a gas station, Ukraine is a perfect long term fit - his portfolio is energy. The more of the world he can get addicted to it, the stronger he gets.
