I was sitting in a Munich beer garden in 1999... the Germans better English than most Americans, talk was beer, women, stock market.

they had me badly beat on 2 of the above mentions.
it does seem as if that time in space, the U.S., we had just a very minor blip of a recession in 1998 if I correctly recall.
Europe was not doing well at all.

I'm thinking we can weather recession (again) much better than elsewhere in the world.

In that time frame, there have been 8 recessions. I count 16 times the indicator has moved above 70. So the false positive rate is 50%.

The false negative rate is low.

This is like a lab test, which always says the patient has cancer. Every test in every patient. It will not miss any cancers, but is not a useful test.
