TJ, as I wrote many times NATO is a paper tiger with uniformed high ranking military staff having cocktails. They in principle are a peaceful organization supposedly established to defend Europe from the Soviet Union aspiration under Lenin doctrine to take over Europe and revenge on Germany. France pulled out because they realized that NATO is for show only with the US and UK pulling the strings. Anyone familiar with the history of Europe since the establishment of the Roman Empire and the Greek Empire under Alexander the Great thereafter will understand that Europe is actually an assembly of many original tribes, that arrived to Europe from Middle Asia as the Saxons, the Tatars or Huns for example. All have their heritage which not exactly match. Romania was once Dacia and with local people to this day what is now Ukraine was more or less a swing territory for ages since the Roman Empire including after the en.wikipedia.org arrived to conquer the Slavic tribes and other tribes within middle Asia
