Thanks all for responding to my inquiry, though I still don't understand why ORCL would want NSCP, other than buying out its interest in NCI. ORCL has already ventured out of its core biz to battle MSFT by pushing the NC. Wouldn't it be prudent to let IBM or SUNW "rescue" NSCP?

I thought the slight downdraft we saw on Thursday was the result of the rumors surronding NSCP, & the surge Friday was completely indepedent of the NSCP connection.

With respect to Larry's NSCP statement on NBR, he has also made similar statements at one time or another regarding his personal interests in AAPL -- & on which he has continually changed his position.

NSCP in need of capital & seems to be seeking that capital from potential acquirers or partners that will ensure its survival as an alternative to MSFT. Does ORCL really need the NSCP browser to augment the NC business model, or can it develop one on its own? Is it possible that Larry is waiting for IBM or SUNW to come to NSCP's rescue, & if they don't, he's thinking he can pick-up the browser for chunk-change? Anyone else care to speculate? I still wish further enlightenment on this one.
