This not about the fucked up US. This is about the much less fucked up Western Europe.

Yeah, we have our own crosses to bear. That said, are you saying we are no better than Russia? I don't think so. As for the coverage, yes, it's involving Europe, and it was such a brazen move that I think people are simply in shock. What do you want to see in terms of a solution?

I have been following Vindman and so far his predictions have been pretty accurate as to what was going to happen and did happen. I like his idea of supplying UCAV's to Ukraine. Seems to me that would be possibly more effective that trying to deal with actual combat aircraft, finding a place to land them and fuel/arm them.

I remember an Iraqi commander saying that his mother spat at him and stopped talking to him after in cooperation (and at behest of the US forces) they had to pacify a city whose name I no longer recall. They practically leveled the whole city to ground. And I remember the US commander praising it saying that because it is surrounded by desert, they can now clearly target the ISIS...effectively creating a kill zone. Not everyone in the city was an ISIS member. And not everyone that took up arms against a foreign soldier was a Ba'athist.

It is always easier when it your side that is doing the killing - especially if the dead are not blond and blue eyed.

War is ugly, and I hate it so very much!!

I hear what you are saying here aj, but from my experience it seems to be mostly an American media phenomena. I listen to the BBC World Service when in the car and watch Sky News, France 24 on YouTube almost exclusively now. Their coverage of this conflict is pretty consistent with how they've covered the previous and ongoing instances and conflicts you mention in your post. Another big difference is they cover conflicts that are not just in their own national interests. I avoid American "news" coverage almost entirely now as it's not news - it's almost entirely talking head op-ed.

<<War combatants do horrific things during wars, but somehow it's coming across that what Russia is doing is some kind of new, unique, and beastly warfare>>

Problem is it's not anything new for the Russians. They consistently target hospitals, schools and other civilian areas indiscriminately in ALL their recent conflicts (Chechnya, Georgia, Syria, Ukraine). The instances of collateral damage from those US actions you referenced resulted in orders of magnitude less civilian deaths than the Russians have committed in just the last few days alone in Ukraine.

I think it's a false equivalence to compare those tactics to the US forces'.

What we really doing is cheering Ukraine from sidelines and trying to enjoy the show. Ultimately Ukrainians and Russians suffer badly. Ordinary citizens across the globe suffer with prices going through the roof.

No one really trying hard to save lives being lost. During Cuban missile crisis was solved by withdrawing from Turkey,. Small countries are paws in superpower games
