Mitcham Industries Files Registration Statement

HUNTSVILLE, TX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--November 19, 1997--Mitcham Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq National Market: MIND - news) announced today that it has filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an offering of 1,850,000 shares of common stock, of which 50,000 shares are being sold by selling shareholders. The managing underwriters for the offering are Jefferies & Company, Inc., Rauscher Pierce Refsnes, Inc. and Gaines, Berland Inc. Proceeds from the offering will be used to purchase additional seismic equipment for the Company's lease pool and for general corporate purposes, including working capital. The Company has ordered a substantial portion of the equipment to be purchased with the proceeds of the offering from manufacturers and obtained future lease commitments for such equipment. The Company has granted to the underwriters an option to purchase an additional 277,500 shares of common stock solely for the purpose of covering over-allotments.


If you are not familiar with MItcham Industries, it went from the low teens to mid thirties late last year before falling back with the drop in oil prices. They are engaged in the leasing of seismic drilling equipment.
