Putin is evil but in a rational way. Let me explain. He is playing chess and we are playing tiddly winks. You must use his words against him. This is how you answer his aggressions and make him look foolish. He has stated that he wants Ukraine to be neutral and doesn't want them in NATO because it is encroaching on the Soviet Union and at his doorstep. He has been clear about this for years. So this is what we should say. We don't want Russia to encroach on NATO. So here is what we propose. Russia can have the eastern providences of Ukraine, however they must give up Kaliningrad and Transnistria in Moldova in exchange. In return, return we will sign a treaty that NATO will not extend further and Russia will not extend further. Ukraine will remain neutral. He gets what he wants at a cost. We must use the same terms that he is seeking to impose in a rational sort of way. If we don't we just continue to justify his actions. Look Putin is a corrupt authoritarian. I'm no fan, however he has nuclear weapons and you don't act like he doesn't just because you think he is bluffing. If this is biden's "cuban missile crisis" then treat it as such. America drew a redline and didn't escalate. They deescalated by agreeing to remove missiles in Turkey so there was some give a take. These idiots can't even get to that. These idiots are just escalating things instead of negotiating something that isn't in in our national interest like Ukraine (but it is in Russia's national interest) and instead negotiating for removal of troops from Kaliningrad which is in our national interest. Ukraine is unfortunately a corrupt Country that is battling a bigger corrupt country. It truly is a fight between rival gangs that we don't need to be actively involved in because the rival gangs are fighting it out in foreign soil. We can support one but no need to get into the fight. Yes we have a humanitarian crisis but this is totally wag the dog so they can detract from their domestic failures but having everyone focus on their foreign failures. If he doesn't like our terms then he can counter the offer, but if he doesn't accept then he justifies our continued arming of the Ukrainian military.
