From Computer Retail Weekly,

<<A five-star group of suppliers is on hand for this year's Retail XChange, bringing the latest technology to the table before it is brought to the market. New product offerings scheduled to be presented include everything from new convergence and communications hardware and software to applications that will knock retail customers' socks off.

The newest release from Microtech is the MicroZip, due to ship in early March. "It is the smallest Zip drive on the market," said Mariam Maynard, sales manager for Microtech. The product fits into a shirt pocket and has a transfer rate of up to 3.3M bps. The MicroZip weighs 11 ounces and measures 4 x 6 x 0.7 inches; its SRP is $349. At XChange, Microtech will also exhibit the MicroCD 20x Max PC card/parallel portable CD-ROM drive, as well as the PortableDock and the ZipXpress, for connecting a hard drive and Zip drive, respectively, to notebook computers.

RE: Followup on Rocky's Garbage.

Allen,

>> The 7% growth figure for Jaz was fourth quarter over third quarter. That's 7% in one quarter, not for the whole year. <<

It wasn't clear to me whether Kim Edwards was comparing 4Q 97 to 3Q97 or to 4Q96. Taken in the context of the Zip percent increases, you're correct that it was over the third quarter, though.

Kim Edwards did say that it was a 50% increase 1997 over 1996.

>> As for your argument that all Iomega investors are emotional investors, I can only say that absolutes are rarely true. <<

I've always heard that absolutes are never true. <G>

Reports of Jazz Cartridges Glut

Has anybody heard of reports of a "supposedly glut of Jazz cartridges"? They are starting to discount the cartridges a lot at several stores I've noticed plus there is always a clearance special.

Also anybody with anything new from the Sony camp on the hidensity floppy to be released. This could stop the Zip in its tracks.
