I know of a company who got a patent a couple of years ago for something I worked on 40 years ago. It's a total joke.

no joke.........not months (circa 1981) after joining IBM at Watson Labs, I had an "idea" stolen from me which incredibly enough resulted in a patent for a HOLE...........I called it the "Meyerson Orifice"...(Bernie Meyerson - was Chief Innovation Officer and VP at IBM Corporation).......the guy got a $15G division award for it..........at the time, I was a broke, low level engineer...he was a high powered PhD RSM..........it was my first indication that perhaps all was not well at IBM............slowly but surely, I was proven right........some day, I'll tell the whole story......ha LOL!

About 15 years ago during a job interview, the kid giving the demo excitedly showed the unique feature that they were going to patent. I told him that a previous employer of mine had patented that functionality about 10 years earlier. He was crushed, but I still got an offer.
