It has a detailed list, which changes sometimes, but the version that is reported excluding the volatile components of food and energy, is just for the purpose of making the month to month, and short term fluctuations without those volatile parts. You can see all, if you read further. This measurement, known as "Core CPI,"

We need to remember that the CPI does not include food or energy: Energy is the key. It's the life blood that keeps civilization functioning. Without it, we die. When it becomes expensive, it drives inflation and scarcity across the board. The GOP needs to hammer this issue hard, over and over. You can't Make America Great Again without abundant and efficient energy sources. You cannot power our economy on windmills and unicorn farts. Trump was correct. And we need to get some adults back in charge ASAP..
