Meanwhile... the west again doubling down on sanctions... pulling Russian "most favored nation" trading status, and addressing other issues... now mostly looking like clerical tasks correcting the prior posturing to the new reality... so, not much expectation that "OK, now, this new move will change things"... making the announcements mostly an effort sustaining the push in the flow of propaganda... as if it was not already obvious... that Democrats have long wanted to get into a war with Russia! Russia! Russia!... and now they have one... and appear at a loss about what to actually do with it... while flagrantly "not participating in hostilities"... Many very obvious things... have yet to make an appearance... while others appear to have resulted in "the usual suspects" failing to comprehend much in the nature of the situation they've now crafted... I would characterize what we've seen thus far... as opening skirmishes... the west pretending to be shocked and surprised non-participants, first trying to prevent it, and then "punishing" Russia for doing what they were knowingly goaded into doing... while we see Russia pushing conscripts and mercenaries forward in what appears to be a live fire training exercise repleat with ample proofs of shocking incompetence... We are still, IMO, a very long way from finding out who is more resilient... and who is more persistent... But, as seems a requirement in all wars... there has been ample miscalculation on all sides... perhaps only matched by the degree of ignorance all around... as my constant denigration of the quality of world leaders today appears it is proving correct... although... I've not found the perfect proper vehicle to short competence... As appears to be true in most such events... it is very apparent that those who've structured this appear to have forgotten to craft any off-ramps... so, for now, the only "solution" that seems possible... is to sustain one's self satisfied moral outrage... while proudly waiting, disinterestedly, for things to become infinitely worse... Russia was supposedly going to respond, in kind, to sanctions ? On Monday Putin said, "in two days"... and that reply has not yet materialized... at least, not in the same way as it is done in the west, with pompous official announcements... which the tone and tenor of Putin's words seemed to suggest would see a tit-for-tat approach... demonstrating consequences in the demolition of the now totally defunct globalist / mercantilist global market and trade structure are not a one way flow. I think most in the west... and particularly those most responsible for and dependent on its existence... have no idea what was just done to as leaders have decided to dynamite the foundations of the " Ancien Regime "... to see what happens... and, maybe, "build back better"... once there is a success delivered in enabling a smoking hole where civilization used to stand. Still. leaves me wondering if Putin's reply has just been deemed "not news worthy" enough to cover... the first casualty in war always being... ? Or, perhaps we're still waiting on those next shoes to drop... and Putin's just been kept too busy with managing "other things" to bother getting around to it... ??? What began in 2020... set "the pieces" drifting apart... while exposing the stresses causing the rifts that have been slowly expanding. Today, the drift has ended... the widening divides no longer able to be seen as perhaps reparable...
