Zeuspaul,

I think I've introduced another layer of confusion by not being precise. There is no such thing (that I am aware of) as an analog router. The Pipeline 85 I mentioned has a router AND an ISDN "modem". ISDN is, of course, digital. When you said you did not intend to go with ISDN, I suggested that someone may make similar combination router/analog modem. The router and modem are separate issues even when combined in one box. The combo configuration can make setting up a small network easier. The modem, whether digital or analog, connects to the Internet, the router acts as a traffic cop to send data to the appropriate computer on your network.

The speed degradation I mentioned the is the Internet access speed, not the network speed. If you have multiple users accessing the Internet via a 33.6 or even 56K analog modem, the speed will slow appreciably. The network speed is a completely separate issue.

Got to get to a meeting. I'll give your other problem some thought and see if I can suggest a fix.
