The value of this thread lies in the fact that one can express one's opinion without getting banned. The downside is that you have many rabid, uncritical thinkers, who are devoted to the positions of their respective parties. But what you see here is really no different than what you see on the liberal and conservative threads on SI, which values safety and comfort, rather than genuine questioning and dialogue. Once you take a position which is contrary to the norm of the political thread, you get banned and labelled a troll. Bottom line: there is no genuine dialogue on any political thread on SI.
