Sometimes investing your time is more important

My dad gave money .. LOTS of money to charity in later years

My mom still does...
when I was young .. being inheritor of the duty.. Chinese fashion my dad took me each Christmas on a round of giving

at that time we were far from well off.. but we ate.. had a roof and were safe..

we would deliver Christmas baskets of food and toys.. personalised as my family had a biz in Chinatown (Montreal) .. we (I knew many of the families and kids I went to school with in Chinatown) .. It was slums.. not all families were Chinese.. .. just poor.. writing a cheque is easy.. My esteem for my direct boss at work leapt when he revealed to me that every three weeks he works at a mission for the poor.. feeding them .. doing the work...
