‘I Was Embarrassed’: Democratic Strategist Calls Cackling Kamala Harris’ Performance in Europe ‘Tragic’

March 13, 2022 2:27 PM ET

Democratic strategist Doug Schoen said early Sunday that he “was embarrassed” by Vice President Kamala Harris’ performance at the joint press conferences in Poland and Romania.

“I was embarrassed. This is not a Democrat and Republican issue, this is an issue of transcended foreign policy needs and concerns of the United States,” Schoen said. “She came up not only short but the laugh through the failure to unequivocally say ‘we will do anything we can for the Ukrainian people to provide as much support as possible’ sadly means that I have to agree with Monica. I wish I could disagree, but as a Democrat and an American first, I think this was tragic and very, very, very sad.”

Former Assistant Secretary to the Treasury Monica Crowley said Harris’ behavior was “astonishing” and she seemingly was in a “state of a perpetual breakdown.” Crowley said the vice president’s involvement in diplomatic matters is “catastrophic for our nation and our allies.”

Harris laughed at a question regarding how the U.S. plans to aid the influx of Ukrainian refugees entering neighboring countries at the Polish press conference Thursday. She then responded “a friend in need is a friend indeed” before bursting into laughter again. (RELATED: ‘A Polish Joke’: Gutfeld Rips Harris’ Performance At The Polish Press Conference)

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s former spokeswoman Iuliia Mendel said “it would be a tragedy” if Harris was ever elected president in a since-deleted tweet Thursday. She then told CNN’s Alex Marquardt Friday that the vice president’s laugh was “inappropriate” and “a very bad experience” for Ukrainians to witness.

At the Friday Romanian conference, Harris dodged a question on rising inflation and gas prices in the U.S., answering with a long statement about the Black Sea, the maternity hospital bombed in Mariupol, and the need to assist European allies.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich ripped the “lack of seriousness” of President Joe Biden’s administration for sending Harris on the diplomatic trip, saying she is “shallow” and “doesn’t know anything” during a Wednesday appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime.”

Despite Public Health Experts’ Warnings and Opposition, EPA Approves Experimental Release of Billions More Genetically Modified Mosquitoes - Activist Post

6-8 minutes

By B.N. Frank

American opposition to controversial genetically modified mosquitoes being released in their communities is not new (see 1, 2). Nevertheless, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved the release of billions more in California and Florida. Will your state be next?

From Children’s Health Defense:

Billions of GMO Mosquitoes Set to Be Released in California, Florida The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency approved the world’s largest release of genetically engineered mosquitoes, despite warnings by public health experts.

In defiance of science and public health concerns, Monday the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved the mass release of billions of experimental genetically engineered (GE) mosquitoes into the U.S.’ most populous and agriculturally significant states.

The British biotechnology company Oxitec was granted an experimental use permit for the release of a genetically engineered version of the species Aedes aegypti across Fresno, Tulare, San Bernadino and Stanislaus Counties in California and in Monroe County in Florida.

This will be the biggest release of GE insects in the world.

EPA’s approval came despite growing concerns raised by scientists, public health experts and environmental groups about potential impacts of the experimental releases on public health, the environment and endangered species.

No publicly available data supports Oxitec’s claims that GE mosquitoes will reduce incidence of mosquito-borne diseases.

An independent peer-reviewed study from Yale University scientists revealed that over two years of continual releases of the GE mosquitoes at a test site in Brazil failed to reduce populations of Aedes aegypti.

The Yale study also found that the GE mosquitoes bred with local Aedes aegypti, resulting in hybrid mosquitoes in the wild that may be more aggressive, more difficult to eradicate and may increase the spread of mosquito-borne disease.

“Scientists have found genetic material from GE mosquitoes in wild populations at significant levels, which means GE mosquitoes are not sterile. GE mosquitoes could result in far more health and environmental problems than they would solve,” said Dana Perls, food and technology program manager at Friends of the Earth, and a California resident.

“EPA needs to do a real review of potential risks and stop ignoring widespread opposition in the communities where releases will happen.”

The experimental release will purportedly investigate whether the GE mosquito can reduce the population of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes — one species that can carry yellow fever, dengue, chikungunya and Zika.

However, California does not have any cases of these diseases, as reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In addition, the Aedes aegypti mosquito is not prevalent in California.

“This experiment is unnecessary and even dangerous, as there are no locally acquired cases of dengue, yellow fever, chikungunya or Zika in California,” said Jaydee Hanson, policy director for the International Center for Technology Assessment and Center for Food Safety.

”Releasing billions of GE mosquitoes makes it likely that female GE mosquitoes will get out and create hybrid mosquitoes that are more virulent and aggressive. Other public health strategies, including the use of Wolbachia infected mosquitoes, could better control the Aedes aegypti in California and Florida.”

The EPA did not publicly release any data from Oxitec field trials in Florida or Brazil and key information about health effects, including allergenicity and toxicity, was redacted from the company’s application for a permit.

EPA did not require key scientific assessments, including an endangered species assessment, public health impact analysis or caged trials ahead of any environmental release. The EPA declined to convene a Scientific Advisory Panel as it does for other new pesticides.

“Once released into the environment, genetically engineered mosquitoes cannot be recalled,” said Dr. Robert Gould, president of San Francisco Bay Physicians for Social Responsibility and California resident. “Rather than forge ahead with an unregulated open-air genetic experiment, we need precautionary action, transparent data and appropriate risk assessments.”

Despite strong public opposition, in April 2021, Oxitec and the Florida Keys Mosquito Control Board began the release of half a billion genetically engineered mosquitoes into Monroe County, Florida.

Neither the mosquito control board nor Oxitec informed community residents about the locations of release until three days beforehand, and there was no informed consent by affected community members prior to release.

Following the EPA’s approval, California’s Department of Pesticide Regulation and local mosquito abatement districts will also decide whether to approve the permit for release.

If approved, billions of GE mosquitoes will be released over a 2-year period in 4 counties in California, beginning in 2022, and the current GE mosquito release in Monroe County, Florida, will be extended for another 2 years.

Big Three Ignore Report Showing 64% of Americans Living Paycheck to Paycheck

Joseph Vazquez
March 10th, 2022 11:33 AM

The ABC, CBS and NBC evening news shows buried a report showing that most Americans currently live paycheck to paycheck as the cost of living continues to skyrocket.

Fintech marketplace bank LendingClub released a report March 3, which stated that “[t]he number of consumers living paycheck to paycheck has increased steadily since April 2021 and was 64% in January 2022 – 12 percentage points higher than April 2021.” It got worse: “The data show that 48% of consumers earning more than $100,000 per year reported living paycheck to paycheck in January 2022 — up from 42% in December 2021.”

Of course, such news could be politically disastrous for President Joe Biden’s administration, so ABC World News Tonight, CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News ignored the story altogether during their March 3, March 4, March 7, March 8 and March 9 broadcasts.

CNBC emphasized how the report reflects the state of the U.S. economy as inflation continues to pummel the pockets of U.S. workers:

As daily life gets more expensive, workers are having a harder time making ends meet. While wage growth is high by historical standards, it isn’t keeping up with the increased cost of living, which is growing at the fastest annual pace in about four decades.

Apparently the plight of most Americans struggling to make ends meet wasn’t worth any coverage from the pro-Biden evening news networks.

What makes the LendingClub’s report worse is that CNBC in January said that “Americans now say they need to be making roughly $122,000 a year to feel financially healthy,” based on a report from financial services website Personal Capital. CNBC noted that the $122,000 figure was “more than double the national average.”

The ABC, CBS and NBC evening news shows have shielded Biden from news that could hamper his already imperiled economic image. Gallup released a devastating poll Feb. 2 showing only 33 percent of U.S. adults were satisfied with the state of the U.S. economy, a 10-point drop from 2021. All three network shows ignored that story during their Feb. 2, Feb. 3, Feb. 4, Feb. 7 and Feb. 8 weekday evening broadcasts.

The Big Three also recently buried news that the U.S. national debt topped a whopping $30 trillion for the first time in U.S. history. The Big Three even blacked out news on Boston Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev receiving a $1,400 COVID-19 relief payment after enactment of Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus. In 2013, Tsarnaev was involved in the detonation of two homemade bombs amidst a crowd watching the Boston Marathon, killing three and injuring more than 260 people.

Conservatives are under attack. Contact ABC News (818) 460-7477, CBS News (212) 975-3247 and NBC News (212) 664-6192, and demand they cover economic reports like that from the LendingClub, even when the reports might be detrimental to the Biden Administration.
