A good question. One big difference I can see is that AOL never had an enormous short squeeze coupled with a stock split, driving the price so far ahead of itself that the chart just looks absolutely freaky. I'm talking about April/May '96, of course. AOL's chart is truly lovely.

Also, AOL is a true Internet company while Iomega isn't. Internet stocks have stayed hot for quite a while. Let's see what happens after AOL reports earnings this week.
