Steve, you seem like a nice guy and all, I appreciate the rec's, we sometimes do think alike. However, let's assume that everything you say is true and that all these actions are the result of one man's ego. Then what?

The other day an old song from childhood intruded, I didn't even recognize it at first, the lyric 'spoke' itself.

"Ashes, ashes, we all fall down."

I didn't think much of it, hardly noticed, little phrases often float by. Happened a couple more times, found myself nodding and agreeing in some detached way, that's what got my attention, so I pulled the whole ditty out.

There isn't much else to it.

Steve, I don’t find Putin personally to be all that interesting. He is an authoritarian ruler, a president for how long? Maybe 20 years. Supposedly, his final term ends in 2024 - but he’ll likely find a way to keep some sort of a key position. Never heard of him eliminating any cities - that I don’t believe. From what I read, he really is a seriously religious man. Don’t believe about him trying to eliminate religion.

Most of what is published about Putin is biased enough to be useless, imo. I don't give a rat's behind about him personally. As I’ve said many times, if Putin dies today, the next president of Russia would be doing the same things. Takes an effort to understand it, but Russians really do take the Ukraine - NATO situation as an existential issue.

There is nothing similar in our neighborhood. For the heck of it, imagine that Venezuela goes nuclear — and unites all nations to our south against us. We would have an enormous problem if Mexico would wish to join that alliance.
