V.whatwasthat? ITU numbering schemes.

Jhild commented, about V.90, "Well, I think V.98, sounds a little better."

Nobody I know can figure out why it's V.90, rather than some other number. Remember that V.34 is the 28.8k/33.6k modems... and that V.42 is one of the standards for compression and error correction.

The only thing we can figure is that the numberers decided that PCM-encoding was a whole new kind of thing, and decided to give it its own multiple of ten... and V.80 is already used for some video thing or another (I can't remember just what, but Zoom was bragging about how they had support for it just a little bit ago. See biz.yahoo.com for details) I have no idea what V.5x or V.6x are, but I guess I can go dig in the standards library: itu.ch

In the meantime, COMS is prices lower than ASND. I'm surprised we're not getting more comments from the peanut gallery.

May earnings expectations be well fulfilled!
