Ole 49r,

Not much time to think. Went to sleep last night right after my post. Got up this morning feeling no better. I am now at work feeling even worse. My head is heavy and there is a cloud over my head. I wish they came up with a better cure for the common cold.

My second thought would be based on Paul Ross's suggestion of a silver coin. Not for Bill Gates or for Warren Buffett, but a commemorative coin for the next millennium. Yes, Y2K.

Just think of it. After all, the start of a millennium occurs only once ever 1000 years. Gold and silver coins will be in big demand. Even I would like to have a few ounces in gold and silver coins. As it is, in 1997 there was a shortfall of about 55m ozs of gold and ??m ozs of silver between demand and supply. Imagine what will happen in the yr2000 with the millennium commemorative coins being sold all over the world. Hence, I predict that starting middle of 1999, we will see an acute shortage of gold and silver bullion.

And Bill Gates and Warren Buffett could also join in by issuing gold and silver coins commemorating their own success.

The third option, I will sleep on a bit further. I will seriously have think about your Federally insured Thrift idea.

Cheers, Lalit Jain
