WFoL, Russia could shoot down the planes. Unless they figured out a way to get around American stealth technology, that's going to be hard. Not impossible, though. Plus, it's not like Russians can just fire the Russian equivalent of Stingers at American strike fighters. The Ukrainians are finding unexpected success with their Stingers vs. Russian air power because for reasons that analysts are still trying to explain, Russian aircraft are flying low and are putting themselves at risk.
