Oh, dear, I just lost a lengthy funny post I wrote in reply. Grrr. I really should write in a constantly secured place then copy paste to SI as it happens quite a bit with an inadvertent spastic click. I won't bother trying to repeat it, but the Berlin Wall has been gone for about a third of a century, which is longer than it existed. I remember it being built, and it was scary, as it was also the time of nuclear war threatening. The brain drain spicket has been opened wide. Intelligent Russians will vote with their feet if they still have a chance to leave. Do you know that the main purpose of the Berlin Wall was to stop east Berliners escaping to west Berlin? It wasn't to stop westies escaping to the USSR/Stasi side. Since then, Russians have been free to leave. Heck, more free than Americans who remain lifelong state serfs with global tax liability, no matter where they live, unless they go through a stringent process of canceling their USA citizenship. Russians can just move out of Russia, marry a dumb western man, clean him out of half his assets after a couple of years 'marriage', and be set for life. The first part of my post was commenting on Americanisms such as spicket, tow the line, could care less, viola/walla, etc I note that Edward Snowden escaped from the USA to Russia. I guess Julian Assange wishes he was there too. I'm wondering whether I might not be better off in Odessa or maybe Crimea. In summer if not winter. A northern base would be quite nice and they might appreciate a well-behaved self-funding part-timer. I guess I can get a LOT of roubles right now and could invest in oil and gas production. India and China can probably use a lot of hydrocarbons since the looney lefty Euroserfs and Yanks have forced Russia to deal with the east and south. Crazy as Russia could be part of the western world where it historically belongs. Mqurice
