I've read about such things, the man who mistook his wife for a hat. It's rare and not my particular situation. I'm good with faces, I flatter myself with thinking I'm good at knowing who you are but don't care what you are called. Something like that. As far as movies go, I've been totally engaged in the theater, walked out and couldn't even tell you what I just saw, the name, the plot, nothing. More than once. My theory is that the elephant (the guy really running things) doesn't pay attention, sees it as wispy shit.
