As of a few days ago, the UN were able to document “close to” 900 civilian fatalities in Ukraine. They think the actual numbers are higher. While each killed person is a tragedy - I think this reflects a serious effort to avoid civilian deaths. thehill.com While they talk about the return of the WWII style warfare - to me, this sounds more along the lines of Israeli wars against Gaza - when they actually call occupants of a building on their cell phones to warn them in advance - before the building is destroyed.

It’s unlikely that it’s the same in Ukraine - but I estimate that 400 - 700 lives could be lost by destroying… only my condo building - especially in high season, or during holidays, when families visit.

There are many claims on the Internet about the cruelty of the Ukrainian side against civilians - and not only those guilty of being (or talking) Russian, or those suspected of dual loyalty. The Azov Brigade is especially bad in this respect. They’re likely responsible for a number of those civilian deaths. The Russian side demands that Ukraine dismantle them - but, while they banned many political organizations - no one’s willing to touch Azov.

All this could become a lot less than a drop in the bucket if things get worse.
