Even if the (R)'s win a majority in 2022, they are extremely unlikely to win a 3/4 majority. Which is required to convict after impeachment. Recall, Trump was impeached twice, but never convicted. So, I suppose the goal will be to impeach Biden more times than Trump, for the chances of performative assholery, such as we're seeing in the Supreme appointment hearings.

Rhetorical answer to your rhetorical question: it is clear that Democrats cannot conduct a fair investigation. Just one or two liars like Schiff and Nadler can destroy an investigation. I don’t know of anyone of those low levels of character on the Republican side.

>> Second, since when are you so respectful of congressional investigations as the gold standard? That's a rhetorical question.

This will be a rhetorical answer, I guess.

I've never had a problem with congressional investigations, per se. IF we had a Richard Nixon situation today, I'd be behind it. But we didn't have that or anything like it. Richard Nixon was guilty.

But I've never seen one I thought was fair that was run by Democrats, as far back as my memory goes. I don't remember too much from before Watergate, although occasional bits and pieces. Because of the Vietnam war, I think most people my age -- at least the ones I knew -- started paying attention to news around 1967.

In general, I think the Republicans do a reasonable job -- they do not railroad people like Democrats do. For example, Kavanaugh, Bork, Joe Biden-led attack on Clarence Thomas, one of the worst, John Tower, not to mention the lying Trump investigations.

Just fundamental dishonesty that oozes from the Dem party and it is dirty and nasty, just like it was in the years of the giant political machines. Just filthy.

So, the bottom line is it depends on who is running the show.

I just can't envision a scenario where the Democrat party rights itself but stranger stuff occasionally happens.
