The "analysts" were idiots who were either unaware of Russia's stated objectives or who were simply mouthing propaganda. I posted at the outset here on SI what Russia claimed they were out to do and so far, it appears to be on plan. They went into Ukraine with far too small an army to ever subdue it in three days. We couldn't do that ever, absent the use of nukes. Why do you think Russia thought they could? You really act brainwashed on this topic.
