VB and Delphi - 3rd generation

Not to start a long discussion, but languages like VB (Basic), Fortran, Delphi (Pascal), C and all their OOP's variants are all considered third generation languages.

The underlying language code that you write and not the environment (the fancy/easy IDE) is what determines the language generation.

English-like "Database" type languages structures like SQL would more correctly fit into the fourth generation column. That being said, these "Generation" terms were all thunk up before the programming world became visually oriented.
