Last week I read statistics about from where vacation-guests come to Canarias. I don't remember the Millions, but I remember that no one (not a single one) came from USA in 1997.

Corresponding to that they have only one (1) directflight from/to US, going from Boston/NY to Tenerife Sur. All other US-cities are accessable only via Madrid, London, Amsterdam, Luxembourg and of course most German airports.

Considering that - starting from US eastcoast - Canarias are as "near" as Hawaii and by far cheaper, and there exist a lot of old culture here, we had luck here so far - everybody knows that Americans destroy every price-structure when they are in vacation.
