Taxing Roth IRA Conversions is NOT equivalent to taxing unrealized gains.
Conversions are taxed as income, same as IRA withdrawals.
ALL subsequent income and capital gains earned inside the Roth IRA is tax free.

Tax free compounding is an investor's dream scenario.
