First, this my speculation only.

I don't think that management would have been able to keep the lid on the info that they received the week before. So they more or less were forced to speak out.

They, as usual, were stiff in responding, but I have come to expect that of Irwin. They were upfront in answering the questions. They at this time did not see anything in the Q to offset this to maintain the $.50 earnings. They did say they felt strongly about the QCP-2700 sales were strong. However, it's early to figure how that impacts earnings.

They are also headed back to Korea this week for futher talks. They also were positive about Korea export coming online. I've seen plenty of Samsung commercials of late. That takes on a different pricing as royalties are then based on dollar and not the won. So can they beat $.17 or $.20?? Maybe. By how much? Don't know.

Look ORCL didn't give a warning and now they are back to $27 from $18. Today they got an upgrade. Will this be a one Q disruption? I don't know, but I'll take the company word for now, that it will be 2 Q worth.

BTW: Globalstar delay launch because of high upper winds at the Cape.

The most important question at the meeting - how bad is the inventory buildup?

Ok, the whole thing was a big surprise to everyone. Management, the S. Koreans, the investment community, everyone. As everyone has noted, management stated in the first quarter release that a ramping of production was underway so this whole situation came as a huge surprise to everyone including management only last Thursday.

Now the cat's out, orders have been cancelled, delivery not accepted, 700 employees laid off, and weaker US sales. All this adds up to one thing - inventory buildup, aka the margin destructor of all destructors.

Should be interesting to hear what they have to say about this issue.
All I can say is, they better give a straight answer.

Regards to all,
Todd
