I don’t get the lefty Disney version of Ukraine. Or the right’s view of it as the Ponderosa. It’s much much more complex than that. Ukraine historically is a tiny country. Has been a part of Poland, as nauseum. Many Russian connections, language links. The current Ukrainian construct is an artifact of pre Soviet and Soviet Russia. It’s the size of Texas but the simplistic thinkers believe it is the same from East to West. It’s like suggesting that Beaumont is analogous to El Paso. It is a huge complex patchwork. The current situation is in many respects the result of artificial borders imposed without regard to nationalities, cultures, etc. “Ukraine” needs to be understood as a complex artifact. JoePlugs has no clue.

No way they would more dangerous than Iran. A group of crazed Islamist hell-bent on killing every Jew is at the top of the crazy pole. I would trust the Ukrainians over the Russians any day. Putin has already insinuated he would use nucs in this war. We've been in a cold MAD stand-off for decades. Why? Are they afraid of free elections and democracy invading the Politburo and their kleptocratic corrupt society? Russia has built a massive arsenal of nucs for one purpose, threaten to destroy America and the world. If Ukraine had the military and equipment to bomb the Kremlin they way Russia is bombing Ukraine today, they wouldn't hesitate to use them. Pakistan stole the technology to make a bomb from India, they didn't develop it on their own. Ukraine could have stolen the technology and a few nucs from Russia, who in turn stole the technology from the US. Ukraine does have intelligent people. More likely, it's a matter of willingness to develop nuclear weapons as to the reason they haven't. That and prioritizing it financially with so many other socioeconomic issues to contend with.
