Geno's the best. That said, watching womens basketball can be painful. I suffered through it. A boys jr high school team would beat them

Luigi 'Geno"' Auriemma << Geno always a good listen. Here he talks about all the kids who leave a particular school's basketball program (e.g. UConn) >> Geno is a good listen and a great coach. It's great to see him back in the finals and seeking his 12th national championship. Monday night's double-OT 91-87 win over NC State was one for the ages and the grinder against Stanford last night was pretty darned good, Here's one young woman that got away from Luigi-- Not because of Geno, just homesick and she left UConn's summer school program in June 2008 after just 2 days on campus and well before her 1st fall semester in Storrs ever started. I 1st saw her play as an 8th grader when a neighbor dragged me to a game. 1st women's game I'd seen since my undergrad years and I had trouble believing what I'd seen. She won 3 state basketball championships (and 1 in volleyball) in HS. Ineligible to play here as a frosh because of the transfer from UConn she was redshirted and played here for the volleyball team, then 4 years for the UD hoopsters, playing home games 3 miles from my residence. Drafted #2 behind Brittney Griner by the Chicago Skye she was WBNA Rookie of the year and since has been a 2 time league MVP and been selected to six All-Star teams. Traded to the Washington Mystics for a lottery pick in 2018 she led them to their 1st championship in 2019. In the 2019 season she became one of only 11 hoopsters and the only woman to qualify for the pro-ballers '50–40–90 club' along with Larry Bird, Steve Nash, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Stephen Curry, Dirk Nowitzki, et al. Membership requires a player to achieve the criteria of 50% field goal percentage, 40% three-point field goal percentage and 90% free throw percentage over the course of a regular pro season, ESPN ranks her as #11 on their Top-25 All-Time team topped by Diana Taurasi who played for Geno and that will likely climb as her career progresses. - Eric L -
