A New Cinderfella?

<< losing to #8 UNC in your last game as a #2 seed sucks. >>

Worse fate is a #1 losing to a #8 seed in the National Championship. NC is set up now as a potential Cinderfella when they face Kansas Monday Night. Only 8 seed to ever beat a #1 seed in the Finals of the 64-team tournament era was Rollie Massimino's '85 Villanova team that beat Georgetown led by Patrick Ewing and coached by John Thompson with a 66–64 upset victory in the title game. It was the last NCAA game played without a shot clock.

in the 64-team tournament era no team seeded lower than 8 has made it to the final game. Two other 8 seeds, Butler in 2011 and Kentucky in 2014 reached The Finals but lost in the Title game. Now North Carolina gets a shot.
