Lee,

The Morels are not that far away, they are abundant in the north of California and in Oregon. Not as big as you describe, but equally good.

I agree about the abolone. Particularly if it is caught, cleaned and cooked by someone who knows how to do it. I had a friend in San Francisco who dove for them and he knew how to cook them. They were superb. Hope he hasn't been eaten by a Great White by now.
