I was wondering why they allowed the filming of those torture - murders of POW’s. Probably, it’s done to demoralize the enemy. In this war - which is bizarrely similar to a civil war, since Russians and Ukrainians have been intermarrying for many, many centuries - it must be important to dehumanize the enemy. Hard to fight to kill people who may be cousins. And many of them are.

Maybe it will work - but it’s a very risky, double edged strategy. It may make the war more brutal. Civil wars are known for that.
