I would say gold is as useless, therefore <<worthless>>, as a parachute on a good day, for sure

unless of course one cannot synthetically constitute the ballast-function to overall portfolio, and I suspect one can almost always construct a synthetic ballast to portfolio that behaves like gold or close-enough near-gold

I think gold might work out once per generation or two, and at those one or two times, effectively priceless

perhaps proper to think of gold as major catastrophe insurance

in the above sense, bitcoin is like-esque gold, therefore I termed bitgold; just that bitcoin not tested over 6000 years in just-about-all societies
