I have a negative view of of civil servants and other officialdom unless they are proven to be good human beings.

the coconut is trying to decide what to study and how, and it all boils down to a porridge of the following that somehow must be made to fit a coherent program or adjusted, and even if calibrated and tuned, must still be amenable to change

during the discussion, the coconut said, "I know you do not want me to study law ..." and

I interrupted her, to remind her, "no, I do not want you to get married to a lawyer as rule of thumb. Same accountant. Same government sort. It is okay for you to study law".

There, I fixed her mistaken impression :0)

Anyhow, the mix, and in no order of priority as yet, and all her ideas as yet with no input from me except noting some examples to her of what folks do with knowledge

- Language: Chinese, English, and either French (got idea from travels before her summers at US / Canada dance schools) or Russian (no idea where she got that idea from except from family books and the one trip in 2019)

- Major / minors - gets complicated: History, Visual / performing arts (can fit well w/ history), Mathematics (I know, left field, but okay by me), Physics (totally unexpected), Economics (okay, fits well w/ history)

- Passion: dance, visual / performing arts

- Graduate school: law or business law? or whatever, like the movie biz, or business of movies and such. Dunno, too early, hard to say

- Geo-location: not decided as yet, but likely America, but w/ likely 2 semesters in China (for language and for making friends). Unsure how this jives with studying French or Russian languages. Details, they are so bothersome

- Timing sequence: maybe a gap year in dance school or ... drum roll ... South Africa, and perhaps straight on to university - she is on the young side at 17 at HS graduation in June

IOW, she is all over the place and needs to do some reflecting
