we've done good on a lot of fronts. That said, exporting our manufacturing base to China and having them pollute to supply us isn't so good.

The US gets no credit for the really astonishing strides we've made in the past 50 years cleaning up our messes.

...this is so true................in my experience, the Hudson River and estuary is THE prime example....still only a semblance of what it was in colonial times....but yet so improved over what it became by the 1960's. It can justifiably again be considered a national treasure. It's a shame that age old PCB contamination from GE is so persistent so as to still render many native river species uneatable.............but the success stories are just so amazing........again a primary spawning site for stripe bass, Atlantic sturgeon, multiple herring species, etc.
....the reintroduction of a thriving oyster population into New York harbor (lower Hudson estuary was once the oyster capital of the world).......literally hundreds of bald eagles again feeding and nesting along the Hudson....all this is just a few of many successes.......a remarkable achievement...so unappreciated by most.

......behold
