There are hundreds of miles of border that will remain between Ukraine and Russia even if the Donbas goes. And yes, it will be very hostile. It's 474 miles from Kyiv to Moscow.

It is only about 60 mi from border to St Petersberg, was a lot closer before Stalin bit off Kerilia at the end of WWII. I assume the Finns already have missiles with longer range than that, although I doubt they are anywhere near the border.
