The entire period from the American Civil War to World War I was an era marked by isolationism.

The time between World War I and World War II was also characteristic of America trying to stay out of world affairs.

Even the time after the Iraq War was marked by a 12-year period of relative non-interventionism. Obama and Trump were relative peaceniks compared to Clinton and the two Bushes.

We Americans by-and-large don't have an appetite for war, military industrial complex notwithstanding. Even now we're trying to figure out ways to make up for our past "colonialism."

Broken Cuck, remember when Bush talked about why Al Qaeda attacked America on 9/11? "America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world."

Remember how Osama bin Laden responded? "Contrary to what Bush says and claims -- that we hate freedom --let him tell us then, 'Why did we not attack Sweden?'"

The implication, of course, was that Sweden was a free and peaceloving country that was spared the wrath of Al Qaeda. No need to attack Sweden because the warmongers are not in charge there.

I wonder what Osama bin Laden would say now that Sweden is about to join NATO along with Finland ...

If only people in Sweden continued to listen to the likes of you and Osama bin Laden. Then they could continue to live in peace and freedom, unlike us here in wArMoNgErInG America ...
