With any luck the rats will mutate into a more advanced species and take up where we left off.
Maybe that’s the reason we never see any visitors from more advanced planets in other galaxies — they keep killing themselves off, go back to cockroaches, evolve again - and keep going in circles. If so, cong(rats), we’re at the topmost level.

Perhaps the oldest species ARE the most advanced. They've evolved into efficient long lived, unchanging, successful beings over vast amounts of time. I'll let you know in 10 million years or so how it went :)
