Funny, I am doing just the opposite. I'm moving my IRA out of Datek and into Waterhouse. Sure Datek has a fast Web site but that is all it has going for it. The back-office is terrible. My statements have been unintelligible for months. They kept pestering me to send in a notarized form in order to keep margin in my non-IRA account (they didn't provide the form). Also, their IRA trustee charges high fees for opening, closing and maintaining the account. Waterhouse, on the other hand, may not have a very responsive web site. However, it is a "full" service broker and very professional. Statements make sense, free IRA accounts, even dividend reinvestment. Day traders should stick to Datek, everyone else would do better elsewhere.
