Christine:

Too bad about Holly Dependable.

As for our current intercourse. . .

Christine:
It is true that he has biological weapons, but some of them I am pretty sure he doesn't have the technology to deliver. If this is so important, and I think it is, why are not all the other nations of the world being more supportive and helpful here?

FT:
He can. They are not like nuclear or nerve gas weapons.

Christine:
Is Saddam's stated goal is to become hed of the entire Middle East, then it would seem logical that the other nations there would help us more. Perhaps they realize he is delusional and not able to make his plans happen?

FT:
Many do, behind-the-scenes. But to save face with certain political factions they perceive they need politically, they take a more intractable public stance.

Christine:
What other Arab countries support some of Saddam's ideas, and which ideas?

FT:
No country, per se, just portions of the populations of Syria, Jordan, some Palestinians, and others.

Christine:
The people are responsible as long as a country remains democratic enough so that the people can act politically. Do you really think that is the case in Iraq? He killed his own son-in-law!

FT:
His son-in-law spilled the beans regarding the bio-warfare weapons Saddam was manufacturing. And was France democratic when it overthrew the monarchy? Were the people of the Soviet Union democratic when they overran the Communist Party rulers and the Politburo?

Christine:
Kuwait is not a country I am particularly interested in defending, Terrence. I think the other Arab states in the neighborhood should become much more aggressive with Saddam. Why are we always the world's police force, while they sit on their hands?

FT:
Why not? They trade with us, are allies and friends, are a noble people. Would you like to see millions of children cruelly killed and tortured by Saddam's troops? Women viscously raped in the streets then tossed into gutters with their throats slit? The elderly tossed out of hospitals, some butchered if considered too weak and feeble. Private property confiscated at gunpoint?

Is all this okay "over there" as long as it's not here?

Christine:
That is not what I heard, particularly for "smart" bombs!!!

FT:
Smart bombs are geniuses compared to the mass saturation bombing of WWII and Vietnam.
